Camellia japonica Large Bushy

A large, bushy Camellia is a fantastic way to bring year-round lushness and spectacular early color to your garden. Sunlight

Partial to Full Shade. It thrives in sheltered spots with dappled sunlight. Try to keep it out of harsh, direct morning sun especially after a winter frost as thawing too quickly can ruin the developing flower buds

Watering

Moderate. Keep the soil evenly moist but never waterlogged. It’s especially important to water consistently during late summer and early autumn when the plant is forming its flower buds for the following year. Rainwater is always best, as Camellias don't love the calcium in hard tap water.

Soil & Drainage

Requires acidic, well-drained soil. If your garden soil isn't naturally acidic (ericaceous), it will do brilliantly in a large planter filled with ericaceous compost. Just make sure the base has good drainage so the roots don't sit in water.
