Phoenix Canariensis (Canary Island Date Palm)

Sunlight

Watering

Moderate. It is moderately drought-tolerant once fully established in the ground. However, it benefits from regular, deep watering during the hot summer months to support its substantial growth. In winter, keep it on the drier side, especially if temperatures are low, to protect the roots from cold-wet conditions.

Soil & Drainage

Requires exceptionally well-drained, fertile soil. It is very intolerant of "wet feet." If your soil is heavy clay, ensure you amend it significantly with horticultural grit or sand. For container specimens, use a high-quality, free-draining, loam-based compost mix.
