Jelly Palm XL (Butia capitata)

This extra-large Butia capitata is a stunning, slow-growing palm that brings a distinct, exotic silhouette to any garden. Known for its graceful, arching, blue-green, pinnate fronds that curve toward the ground, this palm is truly a sculptural centerpiece. Sunlight

Full Sun. This palm loves the heat and needs a bright, sunny position to thrive. The more sun it receives, the more compact and healthy the foliage will appear.

Watering

Moderate. While it is quite drought-tolerant once established, it benefits from regular, deep watering during the hottest summer months to support its growth. In the winter, keep it on the drier side to protect the root system from cold, wet conditions.

Soil & Drainage

Requires exceptionally well-drained, fertile soil. It is very intolerant of "wet feet." If your native soil is heavy clay, ensure you amend it heavily with horticultural grit or sand before planting. For container specimens, use a free-draining, loam-based compost mix.
