Sunlight

Partial to Full Shade. It loves a cool, shaded spot away from direct, harsh sunlight, which can scorch the delicate fronds. A north or east-facing position, or the dappled shade of a larger tree, is ideal.

Watering

High. Tree Ferns love moisture. During the growing season, keep the soil consistently damp and crucially water directly into the crown and down the trunk, as this is how the plant absorbs a large portion of its hydration. In winter, keep it moist but not sodden.

Soil & Drainage

Needs rich, moisture-retentive, but well-drained soil. It thrives in organic-heavy compost. If planting in a container, ensure it has good drainage so the base doesn't sit in stagnant water, which can lead to trunk rot.
