Sunlight

Full Sun to Partial Shade. It thrives in a bright, sunny spot. While it handles coastal breezes beautifully, placing it somewhere slightly sheltered from the most severe gales will stop the long leaves from getting shredded.

Watering

Low to Moderate. Once it reaches this mature size, it is highly drought-tolerant. Give it a deep soak during very dry, hot summer spells, but otherwise, let it look after itself. Keep the ground firmly on the drier side over winter.

Soil & Drainage

Well-drained soil is absolutely essential. It hates sitting in freezing, waterlogged ground over the winter months. If you are planting in heavy clay, be sure to dig in plenty of horticultural grit to improve the drainage around the deep roots.
