Sunlight

Watering

Moderate. Water regularly during the spring and summer, allowing the top couple of inches of soil to dry out between drinks. While it becomes quite drought-tolerant once established, you should definitely keep the soil on the drier side over winter to protect the roots.

Soil & Drainage

Well-drained soil is crucial. It adapts nicely to most soil types, but the roots will suffer if left sitting in cold, wet ground. If you are keeping it in a pot, use a mix of standard potting compost blended with plenty of horticultural grit so the water drains through easily.
