Bird of Paradise (Strelitzia nicolai)

Sunlight

Bright, indirect light to full sun. It loves a bright spot, especially indoors near a large window. If you decide to move it outside for the summer, let it adjust to direct sunlight gradually so the big leaves don't scorch.

Watering

Moderate. Water thoroughly during the spring and summer once the top few inches of soil feel dry. Ease up on watering over the winter months, letting it dry out a bit more. It naturally loves humidity, so giving the leaves a regular misting is a helpful bonus.

Soil & Drainage

Use a rich, free-draining houseplant or tropical potting mix. Good drainage is key always make sure your pot has holes at the bottom so the roots never end up sitting in water.
